Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) Spin-Off and Merges with Micro Focus
Hewlett Packard Enterprise, software business division, completes spin-off and merges with Micro Focus International, a British company.
On September 1st, 2017, both companies have announced on their official website the conclusion of a transaction valued at US$8.8 billion.
Together, they become the seventh-largest pure-play enterprise software company in the world by revenue. The list includes Microsoft as an isolated leader, Oracle in second, IBM in third, followed by SAP, Symantec, EMC, and VMware in seventh place according to the 2016 ranking list published by International Data Corp. (IDC). In the same ranking, HP was ranked in 8th place and Micro Focus in 83rd.
According to Kevin Loosemore, Executive Chairman of Micro Focus, “Our business strategy remains to bring together software assets that deliver a high degree of value to our investors and an expansive solution portfolio to our customers so they can maximize the value of existing IT investments and adopt new technologies – essentially bridging the old and new.”
Micro Focus was established in 1976, England, U.K. where is still based. The U.K. tech company with annual revenue of US$1.38 Billion is present in 49 countries worldwide, employing about 4,800 people. Micro Focus is a global enterprise software company uniquely positioned to help customers extend existing investments while embracing new technologies in a world of Hybrid IT. Some of its trademarks include Attachmate, Borland, COBOL, Novell, NetIQ, Serena, Suse and many others.
Meanwhile, Meg Whitman, Chief Executive Officer of HPE declares that "With the completion of this transaction, HPE has achieved a major milestone in becoming a stronger, more focused company, purpose-built to compete and win in today’s market."
Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) was founded in 2015, California, US as part of the structured fragmentation of the Hewlett-Packard company. Its revenue in 2016 was US$50.1 Billion, employing about 66,000 people worldwide. HPE has its focus segmented on enterprise services (including financial), storage, network, consulting, support and software.
