At the tender age of 16, Edward escaped the Vietnam communist regime in 1980 on a boat along with 65 strangers.

The Government of Newfoundland and Labrador sponsored him in 1981 and he settled in St. John’s where he put all his energy and focus on education.

He got his Bachelor of Electrical Engineering in 1990 from Memorial University and went on to get his Master of Engineering in telecommunications in 1992 at Carleton University in Ottawa.

Edward gained valuable practical experience in hardware and software design while on co-op work terms at Bedford Institute of Oceanography and Bell Northern Research.

He started his career in 1992 at CGI as a computer networking consultant but joined Hewlett-Packard (HP) Canada shortly after as an IT infrastructure management consultant and instructor.

Edward was a highly sought-after resource, often requested by name, while he was at HP. It was his time at HP that prepared him for his journey to becoming a business owner himself.

He founded RealIT Management in 1998 with a focus on helping organizations to implement best practices in monitoring their IT infrastructure and in optimizing their IT operational processes.

Under Edward’s leadership, RealIT has helped numerous organizations in both the private and public sectors in getting the most out of the investments they had made in their chosen software solutions. RealIT became the go-to channel partner for HP, and now Micro Focus, when it comes to IT Operations Management (ITOM) software solutions.

Edward and RealIT have recently launched Service Management Automation X (SMAX) as cloud-based ITSM service offerings targeting any organization with a requirement for Canadian data sovereignty. These offerings include all of the key ITIL processes via either subscription services or bring-your-own-licenses. Edward truly believes that this is an area of tremendous growth over the next decade and beyond.
